Boulder Bay

Path to the bay

It’s half an hours walk from Taylor’s Mistake to Boulder Bay. A very scenic walk along the cliff tops- passing several exciting rocky bays with fishermen and paua hunters.

Paua shell

Paua is a New Zealand kind of abalone. The creature is black and slimey – but the shell is exquisite. Click on the picture for a close-up.

  • Che bella! I simply cannot see why you left Halifax! ;-)

    BTW, what was Taylor’s mistake?

  • Captain Cook visited Taylors in 1769 when he circumnavigated and mapped the coastline.

Legend has it that a Captain Taylor sailed into the bay in by mistake in 1858.His intended destination was Lyttelton Harbour next door. Hence the name Taylor’s Mistake.
